Aristotle ignored the concept of fate while saying that Oedipus Rex suffered due to hubris. He mistakenly considered Oedipus Rex an ideal tragic hero. While watching play, audience sees Oedipus Rex mere victim of circumstances. Oedipus Rex can only be called a perfect tragic hero if his actions are responsible for his sufferings and not his fate.
Sophocles, shows the “relation of man with god”, thus, God Vs. Man, Pride, Intellectual blindness and discovery of truth are major themes of Oedipus Rex. Sophocles knew that well knitted themes of Oedipus Rex is main reason behind fame of this play.
